On May 20, 2013 I shut down my hosted website http://taplinlaw.biz and rerouted its traffic here. This instance of Joomla runs in my basement atop Ubuntu Server 12. Just getting started with Joomla 3, having dabbled in it back at version 1.6. My previous site was WordPress and looked great, but I suspect that there is much more I could do with Joomla.

My motivation for running Ubuntu Server was to test the latest Samba a bit, which works just fine thanks, but I got a little side-tracked with figuring out why DynDNS was not working and, well, took this little detour into web stuff.

A co-worker has suggested that I also look at some Linux-based security software including ClamAV, so I guess that's next - after some cleaning up of this site and figuring out how best to handle backups of Samba and Joomla data.
